Bazooka Joe<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Bazooka Joe<\/b>\u00a0is a\u00a0comic strip<\/a>\u00a0character featured on small comics included inside individually wrapped pieces of\u00a0Bazooka<\/a>\u00a0bubble gum<\/a>. He wears a black\u00a0eyepatch<\/a>, lending him a distinctive appearance. He is one of the more recognizable American advertising characters of the 20th century, due to worldwide distribution, and one of the few identifiable ones associated with a candy.<\/p>\n

Roy Fox Lichtenstein<\/b>[1]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0(\/\u02c8<\/span>l<\/span>\u026a<\/span>k<\/span>t<\/span>\u0259n<\/span>\u02cc<\/span>s<\/span>t<\/span>a\u026a<\/span>n<\/span>\/<\/a><\/span><\/span>; October 27, 1923\u00a0\u2013 September 29, 1997) was an American\u00a0pop artist<\/a>. During the 1960s, along with\u00a0Andy Warhol<\/a>,\u00a0Jasper Johns<\/a>, and\u00a0James Rosenquist<\/a>\u00a0among others, he became a leading figure in the new art movement. His work defined the premise of pop art through\u00a0parody<\/a>.[2]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0Inspired by the\u00a0comic strip<\/a>, Lichtenstein produced precise compositions that documented while they parodied, often in a\u00a0tongue-in-cheek<\/a>\u00a0manner. His work was influenced by popular advertising and the comic book style. He described pop art as “not ‘American’ painting but actually industrial painting”.[3]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0His paintings were exhibited at the\u00a0Leo Castelli<\/a>\u00a0Gallery in New York City.<\/p>\n

His works explore the relationship between artistic expression,\u00a0advertising<\/a>, and\u00a0celebrity culture<\/a>\u00a0that flourished by the 1960s, and span a variety of media, including painting,\u00a0silkscreening<\/a>, photography, film, and sculpture. Some of his best known works include the silkscreen paintings\u00a0Campbell’s Soup Cans<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(1962) and\u00a0Marilyn Diptych<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(1962), the experimental films\u00a0Empire<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(1964) and\u00a0Chelsea Girls<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(1966), and the\u00a0multimedia<\/a>\u00a0events known as the\u00a0Exploding Plastic Inevitable<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(1966\u201367).<\/p>\n

Leo Burnett<\/b>\u00a0(October 21, 1891 \u2013 June 7, 1971) was an\u00a0American<\/a>\u00a0advertising<\/a>\u00a0executive and the founder of\u00a0Leo Burnett Company, Inc.<\/a>. He was responsible for creating some of advertising’s most well-known characters and campaigns of the 20th century, including\u00a0Tony the Tiger<\/a>, the\u00a0Marlboro Man<\/a>, the\u00a0Maytag Repairman<\/a>,\u00a0United<\/a>‘s “Fly the Friendly Skies”, and\u00a0Allstate<\/a>‘s “Good Hands”, and for garnering relationships with\u00a0multinational<\/a>\u00a0clients such as\u00a0McDonald’s<\/a>,\u00a0Hallmark<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Coca-Cola<\/a>.[1]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0In 1999, Burnett was named by\u00a0Time Magazine<\/a>\u00a0as one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century.[2]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n
